Invisible Journeys: Documenting the Spatial and Housing Trajectories of Homeless Migrants in Montreal
This project seeks to document and analyze the spatial trajectories of homeless migrants in Montreal, a growing and highly vulnerable group that has not received adequate attention in existing housing research. It also aims to explore their formal and informal support networks. In the context of Canada’s broader housing crisis, migrants—whether permanent residents, refugees, asylum seekers, or undocumented—are increasingly facing homelessness.
Fragmented Futures: Mapping Housing Precarity among Climate Migrants in Secondary Canadian Cities
This project seeks to document and analyze the spatial trajectories and housing precarity of climate-displaced migrants settling in smaller Canadian cities—an emerging and under-researched phenomenon. It aims to investigate how secondary urban centers respond to the growing presence of internal and international climate migrants through housing policy, informal support structures, and grassroots community responses. The project will map spatial patterns of displacement, identify institutional gaps, and explore opportunities for inclusive and resilient settlement strategies beyond major metropolitan areas.

Living in the Margins: Gendered Spatial Strategies in Informal Settlements across the Americas
This project seeks to document and analyze the everyday spatial strategies developed by women in informal settlements across Latin America and the Caribbean. It focuses on how women negotiate shelter, security, and care in precarious environments shaped by poverty, violence, and urban exclusion. The project will explore both the architectural and social dimensions of self-managed housing, caregiving networks, and public-private space boundaries, aiming to reveal how gendered spatial practices challenge and reshape dominant narratives of informality and urban development.
